Competition for brand new start-ups worth 20k

Came across this via Isabel Barros, one of my followers on twitter.
To mark their 20th anniversary, Wexford Enterprise Centre have launched 20/20 Visionary search 2009 - an innovative and very appealing competition for start-up companies who have not commenced trading prior to today June 29th 2009. The prize comprises of cash, office space, mentoring, web design, accounting services, insurance, technology services and radio advertising. The deadline for receipt of application forms is July 31st with finalists having to submit a business plan on September 18th. Really worth a shot, applying for this if you've just launched or about to start a new business in Wexford.

Great incentive, pity we couldn't get this going across the land.

If the banks hadn't of been so busy bending over backwards to lend money to their back slapping property developer buddies and lent to small business start-ups the country would be in a better place today.

OK, they may have lost on some loans but would have gained on a lot more and would still have their AAA ratings. Also the recession wouldn't have hit us as hard.

Maybe if it's a success in Wexford, it'll be rolled out around the country.

I agree with your other point re loans but I have to admit I'm a start-up die hard. I do think though they could do more to help SMEs with cash flow problems.
