About this Blog(ger)
Flexitimers was founded in 2007 by Dervla Cunningham and Joy Redmond, two sales and marketing professionals who've been working in the web industry since the mid 1990s.
We've known each other for 7 years and during that time we've been employees, employers, contractors, part-timers and freelancers so we're coming from all sides of the fence and 'recruitment' from all sides hasn't been easy. Whether we begrudged paying exorbitant fees to an agency to receive faxed CVs that were not screened to our requirements i.e. literally laying 10 print CVs on a table and manually eliminating to pulling our hair out to find any agency interested in promoting us as freelancers or part-timers.
A few months ago we attended a recruitment trade show and masqueraded as highly skilled professionals looking for morning only/contract work, not 1 of the 20+ HR/recruitment stands could offer us anything other than 'admin' work.
We know we are not alone. We've talked to so many people who felt the same at different stages in their lives with different situations - but all with the same want - to be productive. So we identified a real need for Flexitimers. Flexitimers is not about technology, it's about people, connecting people - job seekers and employers.
Flexitimers is not a recruitment company. We provide a facility to enable companies looking for part-time, contract and freelance staff to connect with people looking for part-time, contract and freelance work, it's that simple. It's not hugely unlike online dating sites where job seekers will upload a profile detailing a snapshot of their skills and experience and companies will upload a job spec outlining a snapshot the desired skills and experience and the system will match them so instead of finding love, they'll find work and workers that suit.
Flexitimers is in testing at the moment and will be launching soon. In the meantime, we're keeping busy writing two blogs- FlexiTimes and The Flexible Future.
FlexiTimes will be written by me (Joy) and I'll be posting thoughts and issues concerning the 'Flexitimer' or time flexible professional.
The Flexible Future will be written by Dervla and will address the topics and issues that concern flexible organisations, employers and HR managers.
